Alexandre O. Philippe follows up his PSYCHO study 78/52 to explore the creation of another horror classic in MEMORY: THE ORIGINS OF ALIEN, coming this fall. Jump past the jump to see the new trailer.

Opening for the 40th anniversary of Ridley Scott’s classic this year, MEMORY hits theaters and VOD October 4 from Screen Media and Legion M. The documentary, which we reviewed here, includes interviews with ALIEN actors Tom Skerritt and Veronica Cartwright, Ronald Shusett, Roger Christian and others from the creative team, Roger Corman and more. The synopsis: “MEMORY: THE ORIGINS OF ALIEN unearths the largely untold origin story behind Ridley Scott’s cinematic masterpiece, and reveals a treasure trove of never-before-seen materials from the archives of ALIEN creators Dan O’Bannon and H.R. Giger—including original story notes, rejected designs and storyboards, exclusive behind-the-scenes footage, and O’Bannon’s original 29-page script from 1971, titled MEMORY. The documentary also takes fans on an exploration of the mythical underpinnings of ALIEN and dedicates focus to the film’s iconic ‘chestburster’ scene.”

You can read our interview with Philippe on MEMORY and ALIEN in RUE MORGUE # 190, coming September 1 and available for pre-order!
