Get ready for another trip to the haunted hotel room.
Bluestone Entertainment and FilmNation have announced that production on a sequel to 1408—the 2007 movie based on the Stephen King short story and one of the most successful King films ever with over $130 million worldwide—is set to roll in first quarter 2027. Original director Mikael Håfström is returning for the follow-up, working from a script he wrote with Mark Verheiden (TIMECOP, ASH VS. EVIL DEAD). The first film’s stars John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson are in talks to come back as well, with STRANGER THINGS’ Natalia Dyer and genre favorite Elijah Wood also set to playing leading roles.
1408 starred Cusack as author Mike Enslin, who checks into the eponymous room at the Dolphin Hotel to debunk its reputation for being haunted, only to find the supernatural very much at play there. Story details of the sequel are not being revealed at this point; stay tuned for updates!
