Mike Mendez teases “THE CONVENT” Blu-ray for Black Friday

Looks like we’ll be getting some demonic nuns for the holiday.

On his Twitter account, filmmaker Mike Mendez posted, “I wonder what cool new stuff will be available this Black Friday?”, tagging Synapse Films and the image seen above from his 2000 frightfest THE CONVENT. So it appears that the movie, which was previously issued on a long-out-of-print DVD and has long needed a hi-def upgrade, will be coming out on Blu-ray next week! THE CONVENT opens with a young woman named Christine blasting and burning a religious school full of nuns in 1960, then jumps ahead 40 years, when a gang of college kids break into the now-abandoned building. The intervention of a few amateur Satanists leads to possessive demons and evil women of the cloth arising to cause gory, black-comic mayhem that only the adult Christine (Adrienne Barbeau) can put a stop to. We’ll keep you posted on details of Synapse’s CONVENT Blu-ray as they come in!
