This follows the news of two of the key roles being cast.
Variety reports that Mike Flanagan’s adaptation of Stephen King’s CARRIE has officially been ordered to series. Flanagan, making his latest venture into King territory after GERALD’S GAME, DOCTOR SLEEP and this summer’s release THE LIFE OF CHUCK, is executive producer with Trevor Macy and will serve as writer and showrunner, in addition to directing select episodes. Summer H. Howell (pictured), who already has a long genre résumé including CURSE OF CHUCKY, CULT OF CHUCKY, THE MIDNIGHT MAN, CHANNEL ZERO, HUNTER HUNTER, ALL FUN AND GAMES, SPIRIT IN THE BLOOD, TIME CUT and the forthcoming NIGHT OF THE REAPER, has been in talks to play the title role, with Siena Agudong from the RESIDENT EVIL TV series cast as Sue Snell.
“CARRIE is an iconic story that has withstood the test of time with continued cultural relevance,” Vernon Sanders, head of television for Amazon MGM Studios, tells the trade. “With Mike Flanagan at the helm and the accomplished team assembled including executive producer Trevor Macy this provocative series is sure to captivate our global customers.”
