The artist will also be creating original creatures for this project.

ScreenSurger has announced that John Caglione Jr., the makeup wizard whose career stretches from early gigs on C.H.U.D. and MANHUNTER to Oscar-winning work on DICK TRACY to THE DARK KNIGHT and beyond, is turning director for its upcoming fright film MORNING STAR. The scary short is written and produced by Quinn and Cameron Moore; the synopsis: “Spring break for college students, you know what that means? A week in the heat. We’re talking about Daytona Beach, of course; can anything be hotter than the Daytona sun? Absolutely. One of the group goes missing a week before break. The group must cancel their trip and embark on a misadventure to find her. After following her steps to a mysterious gas station where they make their first and last stop, you better believe where they end up is hotter than Daytona Beach.”

“People have asked me, ‘When are you gonna write a book or direct a movie?’” Caglione says. “Well, I’m gonna direct this film called MORNING STAR. It’s a really great script written by Cameron and Quinn Moore. Really great filmmakers. These young guys are so talented.”

Production is set to begin later this year. An Indiegogo campaign has been set up for MORNING STAR; check it out here.
