“MACABRE MANSION” Event From Shockfest Film Festival Is A Go In 2020

On July 27th, 2020, Shockfest Film Festival will be hosting their live event MACABRE MANSION in Times Square, New York City (or in your living room over Zoom). Described as both a virtual film festival and escape room, this year, portions of MACABRE MANSION will be broadcasted over Times Square’s massive ‘Godzilla Billboard’ where in-person guests will be able to view the night’s proceedings from a socially distanced…distance. The Shockfest Film Festival, which has been running for twelve years, will be taking place in its new format in three U.S. cities this year: New York, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles.

Later this month, 2020’s first MACABRE MANSION event will be “a hybrid of in-person performance in Times Square, which fans have the option to attend, as well as the virtual interactive experience, which will be taking place on Zoom,” according to Shockfest outreach specialist, Matthew Mayer. Remote ticket purchasers will be able to engage with the MACABRE MANSION: ‘Virtual Love Story Escape Room in Time Square’ through a choose-your-own-adventure interactive experience that correlates with a spooky live performance event in Times Square.

Film festival and poster competition finalists will be announced live as well, “as they engage and interact with the Demons, Vampires, Ghouls and Vampire Hunters of Shockfest in an original interactive online experience, where guests have the power of life and death right at the end of their fingertips.” In order to bring this production to life, Shockfest has partnered with two local businesses, New York Costumes: Halloween Adventure and Forbidden Planet NYC, along with the New York Film and Video Council, who is offering a one-year membership to their independent film community as a prize for a lucky attendee.

More details about MACABRE MANSION can be found on the event’s Facebook page, and tickets can be purchased through Eventbrite.
