“JOHN WICK’s” Lance Reddick et al. cast in new “RESIDENT EVIL” series

Netflix’s live-action revival of the zombie franchise has found its Albert Wesker.

Variety reports that Lance Reddick, whose credits include the JOHN WICK franchise and FRINGE (and MONSTER PARTY, which he discussed with us here), will play the villainous Umbrella Corporation honcho in the eight-episode series. Ella Balinska, Tamara Smart, Siena Agudong, Adeline Rudolph and Paola Nuñez have also been cast, though their roles have yet to be revealed. This incarnation of RESIDENT EVIL is set nearly three decades after the discovery of the zombifying T-virus, which has reappeared and leads to the uncovering of Umbrella’s frightening secrets.

Constantin Film, which produced the original theatrical RESIDENT EVIL franchise, is backing this latest show. Netflix also has the anime series RESIDENT EVIL: INFINITE DARKNESS coming next month, and the new feature RESIDENT EVIL: WELCOME TO RACCOON CITY, directed by Johannes Roberts (47 METERS DOWN), hits theaters from Sony/Screen Gems November 24.
