The popular collections of true tales of terror are on their way to the small screen.

105ive Films and Goggle Boy Films have announced their optioning of the television rights to the HAUNTED CANADA books from Scholastic Canada Inc. Producers Louie La Vella, Monica La Vella and Sid Zanforlin will develop a teen-targeted TV series based on the print franchise, aiming to capture its essence for existing fans while drawing in a new audience. The first HAUNTED CANADA book showcasing true accounts of the supernatural from the Great White North was published in 2003 and written by Pat Hancock, who also penned the next two volumes. 105ive and Goggle Boy have optioned the nine entries authored by Bram Stoker Award-nominated Joel A. Sutherland, from HAUNTED CANADA 4 through last year’s HAUNTED CANADA 12.

“We’re excited to transform HAUNTED CANADA into a thrilling TV experience,” says Louie La Vella, a longtime fan of the horror genre. Monica La Vella adds, “I’m a big fan of Joel’s and I’m looking forward to being part of bringing these true stories to life on the screen.”

Zanforlin saya, “We are committed to staying true to the essence of Joel A. Sutherland’s HAUNTED CANADA books while introducing innovative storytelling techniques that will resonate with today’s teens.” Casting and other talent announcements will be made at a later date.
