Iron Circus Comics Releases “Unsounded Vol. 2: The Perils of Civilization”

Iron Circus Comics has put the second collected volume of Ashley Cope‘s Unsounded into print. Unsounded Vol. 2: The Perils of Civilization picks up with Sette, the thief lord’s daughter still working off her father’s debts, as she drags her rotting, supernaturally gifted companion Duane into an actual Land of the Dead, crawling with monsters who each have their own reasons for keeping quiet.

Unsounded has spent more than a decade building a reputation as one of webcomics’ quietly ambitious epics. The series has always used its monster filled world to prod real systems of power and debt, and The Perils of Civilization explores further, forcing Sette to learn uncomfortable truths about Duane, and about a population of dead that outnumbers the living everywhere she turns.

The new volume runs 386 pages and is available now in softcover and a DRM-free PDF directly from Iron Circus Comics’ online store, with a paperback listing at Barnes & Noble for readers who would rather order from a shelf than a cart. It follows Unsounded Vol. 1: The Corpse with No Eyes, which first introduced Sette and Duane’s prickly partnership to print readers who had not already devoured the comic online at Cope’s own site.

The whole series remains free to read online for anyone who wants to catch up first; everyone else now has a second excuse to put money behind one of dark fantasy comics’ quieter success stories.
