First announced last year, the reboot of the hit ’90s slasher has now been given a series order.

Variety reports that Amazon Studios is going forward with the new I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER. It’s being called a modern take on both the 1997 feature and its source novel by Lois Duncan, in which a group of teenagers get into a fatal accident on graduation night and are terrorized by a mysterious stalker a year later. Sara Goodman, a veteran of PREACHER, GOSSIP GIRL and other TV projects, will write the series and executive produce, the latter alongside James Wan, Rob Hackett and Michael Clear of Atomic Monster, Neal Moritz and Pavun Shetty of Original Film (which produced the movie) and Shay Hatten.

“The best horror franchises always have another scare coming, and this I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER series from Sara Goodman is a perfectly twisted update to the iconic slasher movie,” says Albert Cheng, Amazon Studios COO and co-head of television. “Any way you slice it, our global Prime Video customers will love this modern take on the fan favorite film.”
