Horror-Comedy and Screamfest Premiere “MEAN SPIRITED” To Release Next Year

MEAN SPIRITED follows a wannabe YouTuber who set out to bury the hatchet with his celebrity friend, just to find out that he is not quite himself anymore… 

MEAN SPIRITED is Jeff Ryan’s solo directorial debut. His previous film, Mass Hysteria (2020), another horror-comedy about the Salem Witch Trials, was released by The Horror Collective and acquired by Shudder. His first feature YouthMin: A Mockumentary about a narcissistic youth pastor is now streaming on Peacock. He’s slated to shoot later this year his fourth film, Mooch, a crime-comedy, the true story of Ryan’s childhood moochiness.

MEAN SPIRITED stars Michelle Veintimilla (Gotham, ABC’s Big Sky and The Baker and the Beauty, Neville Archambault (13 CAMERAS, THE BLOCK ISLAND SOUND), Will Madden (BEAST BEAST), Daniel Rashid (BEAST BEAST), Will Martin (YOUTHMIN), Maria DeCotis (EUPHONIA), and Charlie Pollock (The Good Wife), in addition to Ryan, who also co-wrote the film with Joe Adams (The AV Club), lensed by cinematographer Kenneth Wales (THE BETA TEST), and production design by Kelsey Hannah Walsh (DREAMKATCHER). A First-Names Films production, produced by Joe Adams and Owen Williams, executive produced by Shaked Berenson (SLAXX, TALES OF HALLOWEEN, TURBO KID) and Owen Williams, and co-produced by Jacob Andres Padilla. Gerry Pass co-executive produced and Ryan Adams, Julia Hirsch, Charlotte Williams, and Charlie Phoenix associate produced. 

The Horror Collective is the genre label of Entertainment Squad, a production and distribution company founded by veteran producer Shaked Berenson. The labels’ latest productions include the killer-pants cult classic SLAXX (Shudder Original) and the critically acclaimed action-horror-comedy BLOODY HELL. Both titles are currently available on Shudder.

The Horror Collective will release the film early next year.
