The long-mooted revival of the mini-monsters is finally happening.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. has set a November 19, 2027 release date for GREMLINS 3. Warner Bros. Discovery CEO/president David Zaslav made the announcement during an investor call this morning. Chris Columbus, who wrote the original 1984 GREMLINS, will direct and is a producer on the new installment, which he’ll write with Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, who helmed this year’s hit reboot FINAL DESTINATION: BLOODLINES. Steven Spielberg is also returning as an executive producer.

“I’m filled with a tremendous surge of inspiration and passion, as I embark on this cinematic journey,” Columbus tells the Reporter. “It’s an honor to reunite with Steven Spielberg and Warner Bros., as we bring this latest chapter of GREMLINS to a brand new generation of moviegoers who will experience all of the thrills of this grand adventure on the big screen.”

“Few titles are as beloved and iconic as GREMLINS,” says Jesse Ehrman, Warners’ president of development and production, “and we’re beyond excited to bring it back for both lifelong fans and a whole new generation. It’s a privilege to be working alongside Steven, Chris, and the entire creative team, and we look forward to audiences experiencing the magic, mayhem, and heart of GREMLINS on the big screen in 2027.” No other details, including the storyline, have been revealed, though we can all hope the third GREMLINS retains the emphasis on practical creature effects, and deep streaks of dark/satirical humor, seen in Joe Dante’s previous duo.
