The long-awaited feature version of the hit video game will arrive in two different venues in time for Halloween.
Blumhouse has announced that its FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY’S film will debut in wide theatrical release via Universal Pictures and on the Peacock streaming service on October 27. The adaptation of the ScottGames favorite was directed by Emma Tammi (THE WIND) and scripted by Tammi, game creator Scott Cawthon (who also produced with Jason Blum) and Seth Cuddeback. The cast is headed by Josh Hutcherson, SCREAM’s Matthew Lillard, Mary Stuart Masterson, Piper Rubio, Kat Conner Sterling and Elizabeth Lail, with Hutcherson playing Mike Schmidt, a troubled security guard at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza who takes on its animatronic mascots when they come to deadly life during his first night on the job. The creatures were created by Jim Henson’s Creature Shop. This release gambit follows the pattern set by Universal and Blumhouse over the past two Octobers, when HALLOWEEN KILLS and HALLOWEEN ENDS each simultaneously hit theaters and Peacock.
