The world would be a lot scarier without cell phones, according to the new omnibus chiller SCARE PACKAGE. The film is heading for its world premiere, and some pics have been released.

MPI/Dark Sky Films have announced that SCARE PACKAGE will debut at Spain’s legendary Sitges Film Festival, screening October 4 at the Rialto theater as part of the Midnight Xtreme showcase. Director/producer Aaron B. Koontz and producers Cameron Burns and Ashleigh Snead will attend. According to the PR, “The film features a series of short segments taking aim at traditional genre tropes and overused clichés. Each director has selected a different horror subgenre to showcase in a world where cell phones magically stop working and help is always a minute too late.”

Those filmmakers include actor Noah Segan (MOHAWK, THE MIND’S EYE, STARRY EYES) and comedian/actor Baron Vaughn, making their directorial debuts, along with Emily Hagins, Anthony Cousins, Chris McInroy, Courtney and Hillary Andujar (production designers on BODY AT BRIGHTON ROCK, THE WIND), and Koontz (CAMERA OBSCURA). “SCARE PACKAGE was born out of our love for all things horror and genre cinema,” Koontz says. “So to have the opportunity to premiere this at one of the oldest and largest genre festivals in the world is truly a dream come true. I can’t wait for the world to see this absurd wild ride that we have put together with the next generation of great horror filmmakers.” Stay tuned for info on SCARE PACKAGE’s general release.
