The Washington State locale where TWIN PEAKS lensed is playing host to a new film festival, and a fresh batch of photos has been released from its world-premiering film MODEL HOME. See more of them after the jump.

The inaugural North Bend Film Festival takes place in its namesake town August 23-26. Its mission statement is to showcase and encourage innovative and unique filmmaking talent, and MODEL HOME certainly looks like it qualifies. Patrick Cunningham directed from a script he wrote with producer William Day Frank; the synopsis: “A deserted housing development post-market crash sets the stage for this unique thriller based around ‘live-in staging,’ where developers hire low-income families to decorate and maintain properties to attract potential buyers. For a Latina single mother and her imaginative young son, being allowed to live in a dream house rent-free seems too good to be true. As the cruel summer rages on and the mother’s obsessive and unstable mental state emerges, so too does living the American Dream devolve into a waking nightmare.” Monique Curnen, Kathy Baker, Luke Ganalon and Jon Jon Briones star.

Other films screening at North Bend are Timur Bekmambetov’s PROFILE, a fact-based terrorism thriller told in the computer-screen style of the UNFRIENDED movies, and Mitzi Peirone’s BRAID, a strange and unsettling tale of two criminal young women reuniting with an old friend at her remote estate, with twisted repercussions.
