A new take on the Abominable Snowman is about to start rolling.
Torfoot Entertainment Group begins production on THE YETI, described as “a wickedly delicious horror film,” later this month in Buffalo, New York. Written and directed by Emmy winner Gene Gallerano (THE FIRST WAVE, AMERICAN SYMPHONY) and William Pisciotta, it stars Brittany Allen (WHAT KEEPS YOU ALIVE), Jim Cummings (THE WOLF OF SNOW HOLLOW), Eric Nelsen, Corbin Bernsen (THE DENTIST) and genre vet William Sadler. The synopsis: “Oil tycoon Merriell Sunday Sr. and renowned adventurer Hollis Bannister have disappeared without a trace. Their last known location is northern Alaska. Ellie Bannister and Merriell Sunday Jr. set out to search for their missing fathers and the truth behind what made them vanish. As the rescue team heads deeper into the heart of this frozen landscape, danger mounts. Something has taken notice of their trespassing expedition…and that prehistoric something is now stalking them…hunting them.”
“THE YETI takes place in 1947 just after WWII, when the world is still trying to put the pieces back together,” says producer Johnathan Brownlee. “This uncertainty adds a unique backdrop to our film.”
“We realized there was a huge gap in the horror genre where the Yeti should be,” say Gallerano and Pisciotta. “The aim with this film is to create a horror epic that makes folks head to the theaters.”
Creature design is being headed up by Ali Gordon and Wayne Anderson, whose credits include IT, STRANGER THINGS, THE PREDATOR, JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM and the latest HELLRAISER. Check out a couple of creature sculptures and a first-look animatic below. Radiant Films International has already sold THE YETI in the UK, Germany and Italy (Plaion), Turkey (Aqua Pinema), India (Empire Networks), the Middle East (Phonecia) and Australia/New Zealand (Rialto); stay tuned for info on North American distribution.
