Find out what’s cooking in first clip from Fantasia premiere chiller “1BR”

Moving into a new apartment is more traumatic than usual in 1BR, which has its world premiere at this month’s Fantasia International Film Festival in Montreal. Check out a first look at one of its more unsettling scenes after the jump.

Written and directed by feature first-timer David Marmor, 1BR stars Nicole Brydon Bloom (also in her debut movie), Alan Blumenfeld, Taylor Nichols, Naomi Grossman, Giles Matthey, Earnestine Phillips, Susan Davis, Clayton Hoff and Celeste Sullivan. The synopsis: “After leaving behind a painful past to follow her dreams, Sarah [Bloom] scores the perfect Hollywood apartment. But something is not right. Unable to sleep, tormented by strange noises and threatening notes, her new life quickly starts to unravel. By the time she learns the horrifying truth, it’s too late. Caught in a waking nightmare, Sarah must find the strength to hold onto her crumbling sanity…or be trapped forever in an existential hell.”

1BR has its Fantasia premiere on Thursday, July 18 at 9:35 p.m., hosted by Marmor, Bloom and producers Alok Mishra and Shane Vorster, and also screens on Monday, July 22 at 11:45 a.m. See more details here.
