A busy genre scribe is taking part in a couple of high-profile fright adaptations.
Deep in the production notes for FINAL DESTINATION: BLOODLINES, it is revealed that Guy Busick, who scripted BLOODLINES with Lori Evans Taylor, is working on a new version of THE HOWLING, for Andy Muschietti (IT) to direct. It was announced several years back that Muschietti would be helming an updated HOWLING for Netflix, but it’s unclear if that is where the project now resides. Busick has previously collaborated with the Radio Silence team as a writer on READY OR NOT, ABIGAIL, the 2022 SCREAM and SCREAM VI, and reteamed with them on the currently filming READY OR NOT: HERE I COME. He also co-scripted SCREAM VII, which is being directed by Kevin Williamson.
The notes also inform that Busick is working on a series adaptation of a Stephen King novel for Bad Robot, having previously showcased King’s characters as a writer on CASTLE ROCK. Bad Robot announced a series version of King’s 2021 novel BILLY SUMMERS a few years ago, with J.J. Abrams, Ed Zwick and Marshall Herskowitz involved, before pivoting to a feature-film version with that team that hasn’t gotten rolling; it’s not evident whether BILLY is the Busick project.
