You’ll be able to follow the new backwoods maniac on big screens this summer.

IFC Films releases IN A VIOLENT NATURE exclusively to theaters May 31, with a streaming debut on Shudder to follow. The movie won strong reviews (including ours) from its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year; it next has its East Coast premiere at the Boston Underground Film Festival this Saturday, March 23. Written and directed by Chris Nash, it stars Ry Barrett, Andrea Pavlovic, Cameron Love, Reece Presley, Liam Leone, Charlotte Creaghan and FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 2’s Lauren-Marie Taylor. The synopsis: “When a locket is removed from a collapsed fire tower in the woods that entombs the rotting corpse of Johnny, a vengeful spirit spurred on by a horrific 60-year-old crime, his body is resurrected and becomes hellbent on retrieving it. The undead golem hones in on the group of vacationing teens responsible for the theft and proceeds to methodically slaughter them one by one in his mission to get it back–along with anyone in his way.”
