By MICHAEL GINGOLD

There’s nothing sweet about how one girl’s pop-idolatry takes a dark turn.

Saban Films will release SWEETNESS on VOD and digital platforms on Friday, February 13. Written and directed by Emma Higgins, it stars Kate Hallett, Herman Tømmeraas, Aya Furukawa, Justin Chatwin, Steven Ogg and Amanda Brugel. The synopsis: “When a superfan [Hallett] learns that her rock star idol [Tømmeraas] is spiraling into addiction, she makes it her mission to save him, whether he wants her help or not. But when her desperate plan spirals out of control, she kidnaps him in a delusional attempt to ‘fix’ him. What begins as compassion turns into captivity, as she locks him away in the name of love.” See our review of SWEETNESS here.
