Survival horror with a statement to make is coming later this month.

Gravitas Ventures and Kamikaze Dogfight gave us the first look at the trailer for DEATH TRIP, which is coming to digital platforms February 16. James Watts directed from a script he wrote with Kelly Kay Hurcomb, who also stars, and the cast additionally includes Tatyana Olal, Garrett Johnson, Melina Trimarchi, Zoe Slobodzian, Bruce Watts and Tracy Butler. The synopsis: “Four friends take a cottage trip in the dead of winter. During their stay, they discover dark details about the neighboring cottagers. After one of the friends is found mutilated, the group worries they’re being targeted by angry locals.”

The filmmakers have this to say about the message behind their film’s mayhem: “Over the course of the last decade, it has become more and more evident that women’s worst enemies are often hiding right under their noses. The rising trend of performative ‘feminist allyship’ amongst male-identifying millennials has spawned a new brand of ‘wolves in sheep’s clothing’–cis-het white men who continue to engage in toxic thinking and behaviors while wearing the convincing guise of ‘woke male feminist/ally.’ While these men know how to ‘talk the talk,’ often throwing friends and acquaintances (who will quickly come to their defense in times of conflict or call-outs) off their scent, they still ultimately feel entitled to a woman’s time, body and mind. We wanted to explore the relationship between women and this type of man in a horror-inspired context, emphasizing now warning signs and red flags will often go unnoticed by those close to the ‘wolf,’ and how quick they are to pin strange or uncomfortable occurrences/situations on ‘the other.’ ”
