Exclusive: The Horror Collective Picks Up “COVER”

Filmmaker-actor Cameron Francis‘ (Never Back Down, George & Tammy) first feature, COVER, a taut psychological thriller, has found distribution. The Horror Collective, the genre label of Entertainment Squad, acquired the film’s North American rights hot on the heels of its successful debut at this year’s Panic Fest in Kansas City, Missouri.

Set in an isolated hotel, COVER stars Francis as Trevor, a troubled travelling stamp dealer whose chance encounter with Macy (Catherine Lozon), a woman desperately trying to escape an abusive relationship, devolves into a dark journey into trauma, manipulation and revenge. Christopher Schmidt (Recount, Bait Shop) and  Garin Jones co-star.

“Genre films are evolving, and COVER is part of that evolution,” Francis says, “It’s about what happens when people carry invisible wounds into seemingly simple situations – and how quickly things can become dangerous when no one’s telling the full truth.”

“Cameron [Francis] has crafted a gripping, stripped-down thriller that delivers on both mood and momentum,” Horror Collective founder Shaked Berenson adds. “COVER is exactly the kind of intelligent, elevated horror our audience craves.”

Entertainment Squad will debut the film to international buyers at the Marché du Film in Cannes next month.
