It’s part of the wildest segment in the new fright anthology.
“The Hammer of Zanzibar,” exclusively excerpted below, is Alejandro Brugués’ (JUAN OF THE DEAD) entry in SATANIC HISPANICS, now in theaters from Dread and Iconic Events. Brugués tells us, “I have to say, I’ve seen it a hundred times and I still laugh. I had a blast making it. You should’ve seen the faces of some of the crew who hadn’t read the script while we were shooting–it was hilarious. This is one of the things I’ve done that I’m most proud of.”
Brugués also produced SATANIC HISPANICS with Mike Mendez (another of the contributing directors), Patrick Ewald and Katie Page. The other filmmakers involved are Demián Rugna (TERRIFIED), Gigi Saul Guerrero (CULTURE SHOCK) and Eduardo Sánchez (THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT), each drawing from different Latin American mythology and folklore, with approaches ranging from deeply creepy to outrageously funny.
