A homage to ’50s creature features is on the way from the creators of the BARN franchise.
RUE MORGUE got ahold of exclusive promotional clips (see ’em below) from the upcoming indie fright feature THE EYE FROM BEYOND, which promises to “deliver classic monster movie thrills with old-school ooey-gooey splatter.” The videos feature FRIGHT NIGHT’s William Ragsdale as Mayor McDunn, addressing the reports of strange occurrences in his town of Creek Hills. Felissa Rose, Giulia Pisano, Genna Pisano and Michelle Santiago will also star in the movie, along with more genre favorites to be announced soon. Justin M. Seaman writes and directs, and also produces with Rose, Pat W. Dougherty and Scott B. Hansen; Cody Ruch and Samantha Sanford will oversee the practical and creature effects. According to the official synopsis, “It’s the story of a terror that falls from the sky upon the little sleepy town of Creek Hills during the weekend of the Fourth of July. A threat that mutates everything it touches, and turns the animals, people, and insects into blood-ravaging alien mutants. Now the residents must band together to defeat THE EYE FROM BEYOND.”
“While the film draws inspiration from the beloved archetypes of classic 1950s sci-fi horror,” the filmmakers explain, “it reimagines them through a more grounded and realistic lens, creating a distinctive world that feels both familiar and entirely its own. More than simply a tribute to classic 1950s sci-fi horror, this project is designed to stand as an original and compelling cinematic experience in its own right. Blending the creature-feature thrills of NIGHT OF THE CREEPS with the visceral spectacle of the 1988 remake of THE BLOB, this film looks to capture the nostalgic aesthetic of the 1950s while embracing the bold energy, practical effects, and horror sensibilities that defined the genre in the 1980s.”
