The throwback horror movie will have you wondering who’s on the menu.

Troma, Horror House Pictures LLC and NKY Films are teaming up on SWEET MEATS, from writer/director Ricky Glore (ALL YOUR FRIENDS ARE DEAD). Produced by PJ Starks, Chris Morris and Mike Flinchum, it stars Timmy Barron, Eileen Earnest, Andrew Gordon, Amanda Chilelli and Glore, with makeup effects by Lizzie Schreibeis. The synopsis: “Bobby Sweet is a country music legend and has been the world-renowned face of ‘Sweet Meats’ since establishing his first restaurant with his wife in 1978. How did his restaurant take off so quickly and what makes the meat so darn sweet? Sometimes a ‘secret ingredient’ should stay that way. They always say, ‘You’d be disgusted if you knew what you were really eating!’ They might be right…”

“The reason we decided to work with Ricky Glore and his creative colleagues is that we felt the SWEET MEATS script was one of a kind,” Troma’s Lloyd Kaufman tells RUE MORGUE. “Personally, I love musicals! Our POULTRYGEIST: NIGHT OF THE CHICKEN DEAD was a kind of musical, and we took a big risk, because of my love of Broadway musicals, with CANNIBAL: THE MUSICAL from Trey Parker. I don’t know what happened to him and Matt Stone after that… Personally, I very much enjoy Ricky Glore’s standup, so that sealed the deal!”

SWEET MEATS will be filmed at Bobby Mackey’s, a haunted slaughterhouse in Wilder, Kentucky that has been featured on the Travel Channel’s GHOST ADVENTURES, and at Nick’s Restaurant in Harrison, Ohio. An Indiegogo campaign to raise additional funds for filming is in its final days; you can check it out here.
