What’s scarier than a haunted house? A haunted house from which there is no escape, of course. That’s the terrifying premise of WOMAN IN THE MAZE, the new horror thriller from Mitesh Patel (House of Quarantine, Instant Karma).
Meredith VanCuyk stars as real estate agent Gabbi Reynolds, who seizes the opportunity to leave the city to scout some properties in rural Arizona. However, her working vacation becomes a living nightmare when she rents the imposing Hannah House in the infamous real-life ghost town of Jerome. Soon, she finds herself trapped in an ever-changing maze filled with horrifying visions. Is Hannah House haunted? Has Gabbi slipped through a crack into another dimension? Or is something even more malevolent at play?
Shot in Jerome, Arizona (touted as “the largest ghost town in America”), the film draws atmosphere and inspiration from the region’s mysterious and unsavory history. “The deep and sordid history of the area inspired me to create a supernatural mystery thriller,” director Mitesh Patel explains. “WOMAN IN THE MAZE is something that I believe is unique, classic, and can be enjoyed year-round.”
