The British studio behind numerous beloved ’70s omnibus chillers has more tales of screen terror on the way.
Amicus Productions (TALES FROM THE CRYPT, THE HOUSE THAT DRIPPED BLOOD, ASYLUM) gave RUE MORGUE the exclusive first look below at “The One-Way Ward,” a segment from its new anthology IN THE GRIP OF TERROR. It’s the company’s first multipart fright flick since 1974’s FROM BEYOND THE GRAVE, and “One-Way Ward” is inspired by H.P. Lovecraft’s classic short story “Cool Air.” According to the studio, “ ‘The One-Way Ward’ relocates Lovecraft’s atmospheric tale to an ominous hospital that harbors a deadly secret.”
IN THE GRIP OF TERROR is being directed by Lawrie Brewster, whose Hex Studios is producing the film with Amicus. Brewster serves as producer with Sarah Daly, and Sergei Subotsky, son of the late Amicus co-founder Milton Subotsky, is executive producer. Starring in “The One-Way Ward” are veteran actress Jane Merrow as Matron Margaret (1st photo below), Megan Tremethick as Nurse Charlotte (2nd and 3rd photos), Jonathan Hansler as Professor Walker (above and 4th photo below) and Chris Capaldi as Dr. Richard Maitland (5th photo with Merrow). The movie is set for release in 2025.
