It is undoubtedly good news for dark fiction fans that his latest psychological horror novel LOVERS will arrive via Death’s Head Press, an imprint of Dead Sky Publishing, in February 2027 — just in time for St. Valentine’s Day!
Today, however, we’ve got the pleasure of exclusively premiering the elegantly elegiac cover art by Ken Miller.
“After his outstanding cover for my previous Death’s Head Press book, At Midnight We Possess the Damned, it was great to have Ken onboard once again create a piece that works so well in the context of this novel,” Cato tells RUE MORGUE. “Ken’s — mainly — black and white style is among the eeriest in the horror genre, and I believe this image is as haunting as the main theme of the story itself.”

“Dan is a veteran Emergency Medical Technician, currently mentoring Jack, a new employee. When they fail to resuscitate a young nightclubber from a drug overdose, Jack questions if he can handle the job. And while this is far from the first time someone has died under his watch, something has begun to unwind within Dan.
As his life starts taking strange directions, Dan agrees, at his girlfriend’s insistence, to see a psychiatrist. Said psychiatrist takes an unusual interest in Dan’s situation and begins to invade his client’s personal life and eventually reveals his own agenda.
Dan’s newfound obsession with death has crossed into every aspect of his life, and as he gets closer to understanding what exactly is happening to him, it appears he’s not alone in his fascination, as the world itself seems to be entering a new phase…”
