Something “wickedly entertaining and terrifying” is coming from the Irish filmmaker.

Variety reports that Lee Cronin, writer/director of EVIL DEAD RISE as well as THE HOLE IN THE GROUND, will make his next feature for James Wan’s Atomic Monster and Jason Blum’s Blumhouse. It’s the first project for the recently united companies, with New Line Cinema (which distributed RISE) set to release the movie in April 2026. No details have been released about the film, which Cronin will also produce under his Doppelgängers banner.

“Return[ing] to New Line Cinema and my wonderful partners over there is the cherry on top,” Cronin says. “I’ve got something wickedly entertaining and terrifying hidden up my sleeve, and I can’t wait to bring it screaming to the big screen.”

“Lee’s work is always fresh and surprising,” Blum says in a statement, “and he has an intriguing, modern take on something quite ancient that I think audiences will love. This also marks an exciting series of firsts for us: Atomic Monster and Blumhouse’s first time working with Lee and our first joint project for [New Line parent company] Warner Bros. We can’t wait to get started.”
