Sharksploitation sweetheart SHARK ATTACK 3: MEGALODON is remembered more for what it got wrong than what it didn’t, and it’s for those reasons that the film is a cult classic. This summer, Detroit-based Slimeball Cinerama wants you to head into the water with the brutally-bad-but-still-beloved flick, and it won’t cost you a dime.

Wednesday, July 22, assault your ears with one of the most absurd lines of dialog ever recorded with a free screening at the Outer Limits Lounge in Hamtramck, MI.

“Slimeball Cinerama started as a dream pre-pandemic when I visited a showing of Night of the Creeps in Seattle hosted by a local drag performer while on a work trip,” says event founder AJ Daugherty. “It was such a fun atmosphere, and I thought ‘I want to do this!’ Fast forward several years and much self-esteem building later, and I finally got the courage up to just make it happen. “

The monthly screening series revels in cinematic schlock and recently celebrated their second anniversary with a screening of Troll 2, capped off with a prom in which attendees dressed in their Nilbog’s finest. Doors open at 8:30 pm. Seating is free but fills up fast, so make plans to get there as early as possible.

Visit Slimeball Cinerama’s social media pages for more information on upcoming events.

Ever since watching CREEPSHOW as a child, Kevin Hoover has spent a lifetime addicted to horror (and terrified of cockroaches). He wholeheartedly believes in the concept of reanimating the dead if only we’d give it the old college try, and thinks FRIDAY THE 13th PART V is the best in the franchise. Aside from writing “Cryptid Cinema Chronicles” for Rue Morgue, he’s been a working copywriter for over a decade and you’ve probably bought something with his words on it. He also believes even the worst movie can be improved with buckets of gore.
