Anyone who grew up on FAMOUS MONSTERS OF FILMLAND magazine knows the work of artist Basil Gogos, and his many painted images for its covers were just part of his amazing output. A documentary celebrating the man and his art is in the works, and a crowd-funding campaign has been launched.

Bill Diamond Productions is working on BASIL GOGOS: THE KING OF THE MONSTERS with the family of the late Gogos, the first illustrator to create museum-quality portraits of classic movie creatures, capturing the featured fiends of black-and-white film favorites in striking color. “I personally knew Basil Gogos for over 45 years and I got to be that fan that grew up to be a friend, and now I am honored to tell his story,” Diamond says. They are currently setting up interviews and creating exclusive content covering Gogos, his remarkable output (which also spanned Western art and album/CD covers for rockers like Rob Zombie) and his enduring influence on generations of artists. To learn more and to contribute to the project, head over to its GoFundMe page.
