“DOCTOR JEKYLL” transforms the legend; new poster debut and premiere news

An actor who recently went through her own name transition toplines the latest take on a horror classic.

DOCTOR JEKYLL stars the veteran transgender actor billed on the poster below as Eddie Izzard, who recently began identifying as Suzy Izzard. The modern update on Robert Louis Stevenson’s 1886 novella STRANGE CASE OF DR. JEKYLL AND MR. HYDE will have its world premiere at London’s FrightFest on August 25. Joe Stephenson directed from a script by Dan Kelly-Mulhern, and the cast also includes Scott Chambers, Robyn Cara, Morgan Watkins, Jonathan Hyde, Simon Callow and Lindsay Duncan. The synopsis: “When ex-convict Rob [Chambers] takes the carer position to the infamous Nina Jekyll [Izzard], little does he know he’s part of an evil master plan devised by her alter ego Rachel Hyde. But to what lengths will Rob go to satisfy his client’s weird wishes and his own ambitions for the daughter he has never even seen?”
