It was previously announced that EVIL DEAD remake director Fede Alvarez and his Bad Hombre partner Rodolfo Sayagues would be producing a new update of THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE, and now the filmmakers helming it have been confirmed.

Variety reports that Ryan and Andy Tohill will direct the next TEXAS CHAINSAW, which Legendary is backing. The Tohills have previously made award-winning shorts, and their debut feature, the crime thriller THE DIG, has also won acclaim. “The Tohills’ vision is exactly what the fans want,” Alvarez says. “It’s violent, exciting and so depraved that it will stay with you forever.” Chris Thomas Devlin is scripting the movie, which, for those keeping count, will be the ninth movie in the TEXAS CHAINSAW franchise that began with Tobe Hooper’s 1974 classic. No word yet on story details, and how close this latest film will hew to the original.
