Devon Sawa is “CONSUMED” by mania in new Butcher Brothers film

The filmmaking duo behind THE HAMILTONS, THE THOMPSONS and THE VIOLENT KIND are back with a new survival-horror opus.

Genre specialist XYZ Films is backing CONSUMED, the latest from The Butcher Brothers, a.k.a. Mitchell Altieri (who is directing) and Phil Flores (who is producing with Jeffrey Allard of the TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE remake and its prequel). David Calbert scripted, and the cast is headed by FINAL DESTINATION, IDLE HANDS and TV’s CHUCKY star Devon Sawa (pictured above), Courtney Halverson (UNFRIENDED) and Mark Famiglietti. The synopsis: “CONSUMED follows a married couple, Jay [Famiglietti] and Beth [Halverson], as they embark on a celebratory camping trip one year after Beth’s cancer remission, but things go horribly wrong when the couple find themselves trapped between a wild madman [Sawa] and a skin-stealing monster.”

“When I first read the script for CONSUMED,” Altieri says, “I was excited about the challenges it presented. Its characters not only have to face a terrifying creature stalking the woods, but individually, they are also forced to struggle with their inner demons brought on by true-to-life tribulations such as cancer or grieving loss. I set out to visually adapt a film that balanced these situations we may all face at one time or another, coupled with the exhilaration and sheer horror of being lost deep in the wilderness as something unknown tracks your every move.”

XYZ is executive-producing and handling world sales on CONSUMED, and will introduce the film to buyers and screen a promo at the Marché du Film during the upcoming Cannes Film Festival.
