Debate: “Has Social Media Killed the Fan Experience?”

Friday, March 15, 2019 | Poll

Love it or hate it, social media is here to stay. Numerous platforms claim to give us the opportunity to connect with fellow horror fans, but are they living up to that promise? Two writers enter the ring to hashtag it out…

Has social media made the fan experience worse?

In the first corner, TAL ZIMERMAN argues Yes, stating that “When once it was a rare and exciting prospect to encounter a fellow horror fan, the experience is now tainted by algorithms that incite us to measure ourselves against one another.”

In the opposite corner, RM’s Exec Editor ANDREA SUBISSATI counters with No, arguing that “Social media allows us the opportunity to peek behind a curtain at people’s innermost passions.”
