The filmmaker’s own saga of his life in and out of the genre can now be heard as well as read.
Encyclopocalypse Publications, the genre publisher whose output has included a number of new and reprinted horror novelizations, has just issued an audiobook version of Jeff Lieberman’s DAY OF THE LIVING ME: ADVENTURES OF A CULT FILMMAKER FROM THE GOLDEN AGE. First published in 2020, it’s the writer/director’s own story of his long career, covering the making of his fright favorites SQUIRM, BLUE SUNSHINE and JUST BEFORE DAWN et al., as well as his many other experiences in the film and TV industries. Read by Emmy-winning writer Frank Santopadre (GILBERT GOTTFRIED’S AMAZING COLOSSAL PODCAST), the audiobook can be purchased via Amazon.com.
“When Encyclopocalypse said they wanted to do an audiobook of DAY OF THE LIVING ME, I knew it had to be voiced by someone who wore the same size straitjacket as myself,” Lieberman says. “That someone is Frank Santopadre, a comic genius whose encyclopedic showbiz knowledge and old-school radio voice are a perfect match for recounting my adventures.”
“Serving as audio tour guide to the fascinating adventures–and misadventures–of the funny and unapologetically candid filmmaker-raconteur Jeff Lieberman is among my career highlights,” says Santopadre. “I’m certain that the only thing more entertaining than narrating Jeff’s life would’ve been living it myself.”
