In CURSE OF THE WEREDEER, the latest from the legendary TROMA Team Productions and director Ben Johnson, Randy (Derek Woodrow Johnson) takes his bachelor party hunting in the backwoods of South Tromaville. Looking for a good time, he’s met with the wild game of his nightmares. Featuring all the elements that TROMA fans have come to expect (including an appearance by TROMA founder Lloyd Kaufman), the film will have a sneak preview on Saturday, September 2, at this year’s TROMADANCE Film Festival.
Far from the highbrow snobbery of Sundance, TROMADANCE, founded in 1999, caters to movie lovers, not the film industry. Offering free film submissions to give up-and-coming filmmakers a chance to share their independent endeavors, the official selections of TROMADANCE have been made with nothing more than “passion, courage, integrity, and raw talent.” Hosted by Beauty Bar NYC, the festival runs September 1-3. Tickets can be purchased through Eventbrite. It’s free, but space is limited. If you can’t make it to New York for TROMADANCE, you’ll have to wait until September 30 for CURSE OF THE WEREDEER’s official release.
