Cosmic Terror Takes A Vacation in New Trailer For “The Beach House”

Tuesday, June 30, 2020 | News

The feature directorial debut from Jeffrey A. Brown, THE BEACH HOUSE is a striking and timely piece of eco-horror that offers up an alluring mix of claustrophobic isolation, mysterious contagion, and cosmic terror. Thanks to its dreamy seaside setting and a show-stealing lead performance from Liana Liberato, the film was a hit on the festival circuit and was warmly embraced by audiences from Brooklyn to Strasbourg to Sitges.

Escaping to his family’s beach house to reconnect, Emily (Liberato) and Randall (Noah Le Gros) find their off-season trip interrupted by Mitch and Jane Turner (Jake Weber and Maryann Nagel), an older couple acquainted with Randall’s estranged father. Unexpected bonds form as the couples let loose and enjoy the isolation, but it all takes an ominous turn as increasingly strange environmental phenomena begin to warp their peaceful evening. As the effects of an infection become evident, Emily struggles to make sense of the contagion before it’s too late.

This “atmospheric triumph” (Bloody Disgusting) hits Shudder July 9th, 2020. Luckily for new users, the streaming service’s quarantine-friendly 30-day free trial is still going strong. Check out the trailer below and use the code “SHUTIN” to watch THE BEACH HOUSE when it premieres next month!
