Severin Films has announced a three-disc 4K UHD/Blu-ray edition of Romano Scavolini’s NIGHTMARE, which will be available for pre-order as part of its Summer Sale this Friday, June 30 at the company’s webstore. This 1981 release, which attracted controversy for both its extreme gore (which made it a “video nasty” in England, where its distributor David Hamilton-Grant went to jail) and the question of whether Tom Savini created it, will be presented in a never-before-seen 4K 1.85:1 scan of the most complete version ever assembled. The region-free discs will come packaged in a limited-edition slipcover with reversible wrap, plus a booklet written by Mondo Digital’s Nathaniel Thompson. And Severin is also issuing a paperback novelization of the movie, written by RUE MORGUE’s own Michael Gingold!
Special features on the discs are:

Does anyone know if this will actually contain a Blu-ray copy of the film, or only a 4K version? I see that there are two Blu-rays in this set, but I’m not sure if those discs just contain supplemental materials. I seem to be having a hard time finding out this information.
One of the Blu-rays will include the movie with the two audio commentaries that are also on the UHD, plus a bunch more supplements! Full details can now be found at the Severin site.
