The official North American trailer for the Venezuelan serial killer flick, THE LAKE VAMPIRE, premieres today exclusively on Rue Morgue! The thrilling debut feature by Carl Zitelmann tells the story of an author (Sócrates Serrano), who, in his desperation to find an intriguing subject for his next novel, end up on the hunt for a mysterious killer obsessed with drinking human blood and becoming immortal.
Based on the novel “A Vampire in Maracaibo” by Norberto José Olivar, THE LAKE VAMPIRE takes inspiration from the real life case of Zacarias Ortega, one of Venezuela’s most notorious serial killers. Zitelmann’s intention was to bring a truly Venezuelan horror story to the screen in a fashion reminiscent of SE7EN, THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS, and INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE.
From Uncork’d Entertainment and Dark Star Pictures, THE LAKE VAMPIRE premieres on Friday, September 27 at the Laemmle Glendale in Los Angeles, and will play other U.S. cities this fall with a VOD release to follow soon after.
