The extreme body-horror shocker is coming this fall.

MUBI has announced that it will release THE SUBSTANCE, which just played in competition and won rave reviews as well as the best screenplay prize at the Cannes Film Festival, on September 20 in the U.S., with additional global theatrical dates to be announced soon. Written and directed by Coralie Fargeat (REVENGE), and featuring a much-talked-about lead performance by Demi Moore, it also stars Margaret Qualley, Dennis Quaid, Hugo Diego Garcia, Joseph Barderrama and Oscar Lesage. The synopsis:

Have you ever dreamt of a better version of yourself?
You. Only better in every way.
Seriously.
You’ve got to try this new product. It’s called The Substance.
IT CHANGED MY LIFE.
It generates another you.
A new, younger, more beautiful, more perfect, you.
And there’s only one rule: You share time.
One week for you. One week for the new you.
Seven days each. A perfect balance.
Easy. Right?
If you respect the balance…what could possibly go wrong?
