“BONES AND ALL,” “PEARL” and more score Independent Spirit Awards nominations

The Oscars of off-Hollywood fare are acknowledging several genre features this year.

The Independent Spirit Awards, which honor movies and television made outside the major-studio system, announced the nominees for their 2023 prizes this morning. Led by EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE with eight noms, the honored features also include the following fright titles:

BONES AND ALL for Best Feature, Best Lead Performance (Taylor Russell) and Best Supporting Performance (Mark Rylance)

BODIES BODIES BODIES for Best Director (Halina Reijn) and Best First Screenplay (Sarah DeLappe, Kristen Roupenian)

PEARL for Best Lead Performance (Mia Goth, pictured above) and Best Cinematography (Eliot Rockett)

SOMETHING IN THE DIRT for the John Cassavetes Award (best feature made for under $500,000)

NANNY for the Someone to Watch Award (writer/director Nikyatu Jusu)

The Spirit Awards will be given out on March 4, 2023.
