Blu-ray details/art: Black Fawn Films’ “I’LL TAKE YOUR DEAD” and “BED OF THE DEAD”

A pair of productions by Canadian horror specialist Black Fawn Films are hitting Blu-ray; read on for the full info and cover art.

On June 4, I’LL TAKE YOUR DEAD will hit both Blu-ray and DVD from Shout! Factory under the Scream Factory banner. Directed by Chad Archibald from a screenplay by Jayme Laforest, it stars Aidan Devine, Ava Preston, Jess Salgueiro and Ari Millen. The synopsis: “I’LL TAKE YOUR DEAD follows William [Devine], who has a simple job: he makes dead bodies disappear. This isn’t something he likes or even wants to do, but through circumstances out of his control, his little farmhouse in the country has become a dumping ground for the casualties of the gang related murders in the nearby city. His daughter Gloria [Preston] has become used to rough-looking men dropping off corpses and is even convinced that some of these corpses are haunting their house. After a woman’s body is dumped at the house, William begins his meticulous process when he realizes she’s not actually dead. As the gang activity increases, William patches the woman up and holds her against her will until he can figure out what to do with her. As they begin to develop a very unusual respect for each other, the woman’s murderers get word that she’s still alive and plan to finish what they started.”

Special features are:

  • Behind-the-scenes featurette
  • Deleted scenes
  • Script-to-screen comparison
  • Trailers

Black Fawn will release BED OF THE DEAD (pictured above) itself in a Blu-ray/DVD combo June 18. The directorial debut of the company’s regular cinematographer Jeff Maher, from a script he wrote with Cody Calahan, BED stars Colin Price, Alyssa King, Gwenlyn Cumyn, Dennis Andres and George Krissa. The synopsis: “BED OF THE DEAD follows two young couples who visit the city’s oldest singles club for some late-night fun. They soon find themselves stuck on a haunted antique bed where leaving leads to a bloody end. While plagued by frightening hallucinations, the group must figure out the bed’s secrets before they’re gruesomely picked off one by one.”

“This is our fifth special edition Blu-ray that we’ve released under the Black Fawn Distribution banner,” says Archibald. “Jeff Maher shot a gorgeously dark film and BED OF THE DEAD deserves to be seen in the best quality possible. This is also the only version of the film that will have these special features attached to it, so it’s a must-have for horror collectors.”

Those extras include a limited-edition slipcase cover, a documentary on the making of the similarly themed ’70s cult flick DEATH BED: THE BED THAT EATS, a music box player featuring previously unreleased songs from composer Steph Copeland and more. There’s also a special “Blacklist” package available with the disc signed by Maher, three mini-lobby cards, a miniposter, a vinyl sticker, a piece of a screen-used prop from the set of BED OF THE DEAD and more items to be added soon. Both versions can be pre-ordered at the Black Fawn webstore
