Black Caravan Reveals Alternative Cover Art For “Swamp Dogs”

Tuesday, August 31, 2021 | Exclusives

Coming soon from Black Caravan (Scout Comics’ Horror/Sci-Fi imprint), SWAMP DOGS is an all-new 5-issue miniseries helmed by J.M. Brandt, Theo Prasidis (The Doomster’s Monolithic Pocket Alphabet), and Kewber Baal (Army of Darkness: Furious Road, Garth Ennis’ Jennifer Blood).

“They came from the swamp… the scummiest squad of Confederate soldiers, brought back to life by powerful Voodoo magic. They crave power, carnage, and female flesh! They are the Swamp Dogs! Now, young lovers Ayana and Violet, and their friends from the goofy stoner metal band The Grunch, will unknowingly fall into their ghoulish nest. Bear witness to a rollicking gorefest straight out of the shocking grindhouse and revengeful blaxploitation of the 1970s, and the cult horror classics of the 1980s… with a modern twist.”

Robert Sammelin (Mondo, Waxwork Records) serves as primary cover artist for all 5 issues, but Rue Morgue is thrilled to unveil a killer alternative cover from the amazingly talented John Gallagher, which he’ll be selling through his own Uncannyknack Comics and Big Pete’s Collectibles in extremely limited quantities.

Gallagher had this to say regarding SWAMP DOGS:

“At Uncannyknack Comics we’re fans first. It all started in our childhoods, along with my often unhealthy love for horror films and being a diehard monster kid. If the book doesn’t jump out at us, we give it a pass. It’s never going to be about just doing an issue number one cover and moving on. Hard pass from us on that kind of nonsense; it’s not how we do things. So when SWAMP DOGS found us there was no hesitation and total consensus: cool dynamic characters, drama and atmosphere, gore, undead, compelling visual moments…in short, the whole package. Scott, Pete, and myself are proud and honoured to be able to present our limited print run variant Swamp Dogs cover for what we think is going to be both a critical darling and a lock for any horror fan’s best of list this year.”

To grab this extremely limited variant cover, visit Uncannyknack Comics or Big Pete’s Collectibles. For all things SWAMP DOGS, head over to the official website.
