Genre-specialist screenwriter Eric Heisserer is producing the supernatural thriller under his Chronology banner.

Deadline reports that Paramount/Chronology’s MORGUE is an English-language reimagining of the Paraguayan film of the same title (pictured), which was a hit in its native country this past August. The original, based partially on true events, was written, produced and directed by Hugo Cardozo, who will executive-produce the American update with his producing partner Guido Rud. The synopsis: “After hitting someone with his car and fleeing the scene, a freelance security guard is assigned to cover a night shift at the hospital, where he discovers the body of his victim in the morgue. As the night progresses, he is tormented by his guilt…or something more sinister.” In addition to ARRIVAL (for which he was Oscar-nominated) and Netflix’s hit BIRD BOX, Heisserer’s credits include LIGHTS OUT and the March release BLOODSHOT, and he’s executive producer and showrunner on Netflix’s upcoming SHADOW AND BONE series.
