We’ve seen all sorts of toys, devices and other objects overtaken by evil energies, so why not a drone? That’s the premise of a horror/comedy making its world premiere this month at the Slamdance Film Festival; see the details and trailer after the jump.

Directed by Jordan Rubin and scripted by Rubin, Jon Kaplan and Al Kaplan (the team behind ZOMBEAVERS), THE DRONE will have its debut screening on Monday, January 28 at 10:30 p.m. at Ballroom (255 Main Street, Park City, UT; see details here). Alex Essoe (STARRY EYES), John Brotherton, Anita Briem, Neil Sandilands, Rex Linn, Simon Rex, Sam Adegoke and Christopher Matthew Cook star; the synopsis: “A cornered serial killer transfers his consciousness into a consumer drone, which flies off to terrorize newlyweds Rachel [Essoe] and Chris [Brotherton].
