A family’s tragic and terrifying history rears its head in the new supernatural thriller ESME MY LOVE, coming to digital from Terror Films.
Directed by Cory Choy, ESME MY LOVE stars Stacey Weckstein as Hannah. When Hannah notices signs of an insidious, deadly illness in her emotionally distant young daughter, Esme, played by Audrey Grace Marshall (Headless: A Sleepy Hollow Story), she decides to take her to their family’s abandoned farm in a last-ditch effort to connect before it’s too late. However, all is not as it seems.
Inspired by true events, ESME MY LOVE is a distinctly woman-led horror film that’s “rooted in a family’s history and lore.”
“I recognize that women are underrepresented in film, both on and off-screen. And while I didn’t set out with this explicit intention, I am very proud to have made a movie exploring the relationship between parent and child that stars only women (one of whom is a little girl), was co-written and co-edited by women, with cinematography by a woman, and features a score composed by women,” says Choy, adding, “ESME MY LOVE explores the relationship between mother and daughter – a meditation on love, loss, family and magic.”
ESME MY LOVE from Terror Films arrives on digital June 2. Check out the trailer below.
