Cineverse has announced that its new 4K restoration of Guillermo del Toro‘s Pan’s Labyrinth will be available to own on digital on November 10, and said in a press release that preorders for the accompanying physical home video release are the strongest the company has ever recorded for a title.
The restoration was struck from the original 35mm negative, with del Toro personally overseeing the colour and grain work, and first reached theatres this October in a limited 4K, 3D, and HDR engagement through a partnership between Cineverse and Fathom Entertainment, timed to the film’s 20th anniversary. Pan’s Labyrinth, which won three Oscars in 2007 and remains one of the defining dark fairy tales to come out of the 2000s horror adjacent boom, follows a young girl in fascist era Spain who escapes into a brutal fantasy world that may be more real, and more dangerous, than the one she’s fleeing.
Cineverse hasn’t published final packaging details, specific disc formats, or pricing for the physical release as of this writing, so anyone hoping for a steelbook or a particular slate of new bonus features will want to watch the studio’s own channels for confirmation rather than take any early listing as final.
Fans wanting to get in line can do so now through the official 20th anniversary site, which routes preorders to retail. For anyone who’s never seen Pan’s Labyrinth on anything better than a worn DVD, a studio supervised 4K pass from del Toro himself is about as good an excuse as any.
