Heads up cryptic collectors, Good Smile Company has reopened preorders for its Nendoroid figure of Sadako, the vengeful ghost from Hideo Nakata‘s 1998 classic Ringu. Orders are open now through Good Smile’s official listing, with the preorder window set to close November 11.
Sculpted by QingYu at Good Smile Arts Shanghai, the figure first released in 2023 and is only now getting a second preorder run. It keeps the eerie detail that made the original popular with collectors, including two swappable faceplates, one with a thin, unsettling grin and one twisted into fury, plus three interchangeable hairpieces that let her face stay hidden, half revealed with a single eye, or dragging along the ground as she crawls forward. A background sheet depicting her signature television set lets her be displayed climbing directly out of the screen, and this rerelease throws in a bonus “TV Static” version of that same backdrop.
The figure comes with her own tiny well and a miniature VHS tape standing in for the cursed videotape that kills anyone who watches it within seven days. It’s a loving, slightly absurd shrinking down of one of J-horror’s most enduring images, built for a collector’s shelf.
The figure is priced at ¥7,800, or roughly $52 USD before any retailer markup or exchange rate shifts, and is expected to begin shipping in March 2027. Good Smile notes that preorders may close earlier than the stated date without notice, so anyone who wants Sadako waiting on a shelf by spring shouldn’t wait too long to lock one in.
Nearly three decades after she first crawled through a television screen Sadako’s jump to a chibi collectible is a reminder that even horror’s creepiest icons eventually end up as the cutest item in a collector’s cabinet, cursed tape included.
