“V/H/S/MIXTAPE” Unveils Cast and Eerie First Look at Ernest Dickerson’s Segment

V/H/S/MIXTAPE has put a face to one of its found footage segments: first images from “The Music of Mr. Sze,” directed by Ernest Dickerson, confirm Jihad Brent and Alex Hsu as its stars just days before the anthology’s October 9 premiere on Shudder.

Brent plays a film student turned documentarian while Hsu is the reclusive musician under his lens, a man called Mr. Sze whose eyes glow with an intensity suggesting that whatever is wrong with him is unnatural to say the least.

The anthology builds its found footage terror around music and sound rather than the series’ usual cursed tapes, with RZA and Flying Lotus both helming segments, Tobias Forge of Ghost contributing one of his own, and shock rock institution GWAR also in the mix. Renee Zhan and David Moreau round out the director list with segments of their own, and Jim Henson’s Creature Shop supplied practical effects for at least one entry.

V/H/S/MIXTAPE follows V/H/S/HALLOWEEN, which AMC Networks has called the most watched exclusive premiere Shudder and AMC+ had in 2025, a bar this instalment will have to clear with an unusually eclectic set of collaborators. It streams exclusively on Shudder starting October 9.
